ACCO Pakistan has completed a major expansion of Al-Shifa Healthcare Trust's hospital campus in Rawalpindi, delivering 120 new beds, a four-theatre surgical wing, a negative-pressure isolation ward, and an expanded diagnostic imaging department.
The project was delivered in two phases over 18 months while the existing hospital remained fully operational, requiring close daily coordination with hospital operations staff to protect patient care throughout construction.
"Building inside a working hospital is one of the hardest environments in construction," said Fatima Malik, ACCO's Director of Construction. "Every access route, every delivery, and every noisy activity had to be planned around patient care, not just our schedule."
The expansion significantly increases Al-Shifa's surgical and critical care capacity, serving a growing patient population across Rawalpindi and the wider Islamabad region. ACCO's healthcare design team worked directly with the trust's clinical leadership throughout design to ensure the new wing matched real operational workflow.
